One church cannot reach a city by itself

Missions Training

Our identity as children of God and disciples of Christ is to bear His image in the world by following the teachings of Christ and to make disciples here and everywhere for God’s glory. Part of the Launch 10x goal at FBCMel is to be a launch pad to send people to the nations. Over the next 10 years, we want to disciple and send out 100 people into vocational ministry or mid to long-term missionary service.

Missions Training Program

Discover

Internationally, there are so many opportunities to make disciples. At FBCMel we take multiple short-term trips to a variety of locations engaging is a diversity of ministry ranging from evangelism to backyard bible clubs to construction. As people experience God’s mission on an international context, they are serving with people who have a long track record of ministry who can share with trip participants what it is like to be a missionary.

Train

Back in Melbourne, we regularly train people to engage in missions. We have a discipleship program for those just starting to consider international missions, training for those leading our short-term trips, and training designed to help people begin to walk through the International Mission Board process. There are many pathways to serve with the IMB. Some of these include mid-term options where people can serve for a summer, semester, or even for a couple of years on the field. Beyond that, we can help IMB candidates begin to walk through the requirements needed to pursue longer term missionary service and learn about the missionary task. We believe that helping candidates through the community and shepherding that the local church provides will create fantastic outcomes.
