Engage Missions Conference
November 3–10, 2024
The purpose of the Church Planting Training is to create a discipleship process that equips FBC Melbourne to be continually engaged in local campus planting and domestic church planting by developing church plant leaders and members. Church planting has been at the core of FBC Melbourne’s identity. We have been blessed to plant 10 churches in our history. We believe that we can do greater things in the future to reach Melbourne and beyond!
IN NORTH AMERICA DO NOT HAVE A PERSONAL RELATIONSHIP WITH CHRIST
There is ONE Southern Baptist Church for every 6,828 people
There was ONE Southern Baptist Church for every 430 people
Our goal is to plant 1 church a year starting in the year 2021.
We believe that we’ve identified a proven strategy to make disciples and multiply the church because we understand that one church cannot reach a city by itself. We are excited to come alongside you in your church planting journey.
We believe that long-term success for a church plant and its ability to reproduce and multiply rises and falls based on the strength of the training and equipping the planter receives. To develop healthy church planters who lead healthy church plants, we have established a multi-step process. Below is our church planting process.
Anyone interested in becoming a lead church planter or other senior church plant leadership should fill out an application. This is a detailed application that includes questions on character, competency, and theology. Additionally we determine if the candidate fits the DNA and values of FBCMel. This application will help to determine fit for FBCMel church planting leadership and to discern readiness for NAMB assessment.
After completing an application & interview with FBC Melbourne, a participant will complete the full NAMB assessment that digs deeper into the candidate’s character, calling, and readiness to plant. If married, this process includes the lead planter’s spouse. Feedback received from this step will be incorporated into future training.
The goal of the FBC Melbourne Church Planting Residency is to provide a finishing school for planters by providing relevant ministry experience and coaching while giving the planter time to prepare their vision, timeline, and logistics. Each resident will be paired up with a coach and cohort. The cohort will walk through NAMB’s Multiplication Pipeline L3 curriculum as well as a tailored residency that provides exposure and training in FBCMel’s culture and values. The resident will also have time to prepare the church plant vision, timeline, and the logistics surrounding the launch process.
