Genesis 46:1-47:26 | The Will and Wisdom of God
Abigail

How do you respond when God gives you an incredible gift? In Genesis 46 and 47, Jacob and his family are on the move — leaving Canaan behind and heading to Egypt, where Joseph has prepared a place for them. It’s a story about God keeping His promises, even when the path looks nothing like what anyone expected. Dr. Scott Wilson walks through these chapters and draws out six ways God’s people should respond to His saving work: with worship, with rejoicing, with gratitude, with a pilgrim’s mindset, with trust, and with full surrender.

One of the most striking moments in the passage is a 130-year-old man standing in front of the most powerful ruler in the world — and blessing him. Jacob knew something Pharaoh didn’t: he served a greater King. That’s what it looks like to live as a sojourner, someone who is in the world but not of it, because your eyes are set on a better country.

And underneath all of it runs the same theme that’s carried this whole series: God is always providing, always keeping His promises, always moving His people toward something bigger than they can see. Whatever you’re facing this week — He is still Jehovah Jireh, the God who provides.
